Something Interesting

          Something interesting brought up in our discussion  this week was about how they talk about the lobsters being so cute nice creatures. Then they talk about them as ugly because they describe them with color like mud red, cadaver green. How are they both beautiful and ugly?

           I believe that this show different perspectives of objects. Sometimes things can be ugly but beautiful. Also I think that maybe up her on land they would be called ugly. Down in the bottom of the ocean maybe they are one of the most beautiful creatures. Like in the poem they describe them like spiders. I think spiders are the same thing like lobsters in the ugly beautiful kind of way.

         

5 part paragraph

Throughout the past couple weeks we have been reading our 5 part paragraphs. I think in an overall view that we did a great job for our first ones. One thing i think we all need to work on is transitions and no doing plot summary. Almost every paper had this wrong but there was a few that had both of those things right. 

I think that I need to work on stronger transitions and commentary. I had transitions but with some of them you couldn't really tell. Also with commentary I need to work on because I had more of a  plot summary. I think if I would have read my paper a few more time i could have caught some of the mistakes with the transitions and commentary. Now I will have a better understanding what to do for the next time.        

Diction

Today after school I went to the Varsity volleyball practice. Even thought Our season ended we still where invited to come because of our surprise. The humongous surprise was that Courtney Thompson came to practice with the team. Courtney is the setter on the USA national volleyball team. They are currently ranked third in the world! She is now trying to get a spot on the women Olympic volleyball team. I chose to write about this topic because she is one of my big inspirations. She never thought about playing any feather than high school. now she is on her way to making the Olympic team. I never thought I would make the High school team but I did. Now I am really looking forward to playing my next three years of high school. Also I am hoping to play through out my college years. After listening to her tell us about herself I really felt like I could do anything. She changed my views about a lot of things. One thing that really stood out to me was that she said if you do not have the talent but you have the heart to do it you can anything you want to. I think this applies to many things in life. I believe that exactly what she had said and this really touched me. Now she has me in a Whole new mind set. This was part of my great adventure of the week that will stick with me forever.

Outside Reading

I am reading The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver. i think that the beginning of the book started off slow. I am not sure if this is totally my style of reading or not. This is not the best or favorite book I have ever read but I like it.

The main character is Missy. I think that there is more to Missy then what meets the eye. I have not figured it out but i feel like there is something missing almost. I cant wait to read more and Find if i am right.

Also this book makes me think back about To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In that book and this one I thought there was always something missing. In To Kill A Mockingbird I thought something was missing about Atticus but I turns up that I was wrong. I hope it turns up different about this one.

Extending the Theme

After reading To Kill A Mockingbird I found out that with this book i am the kind of reader that put myself into the book with my life situations. I believe that this is more than just any other book. Read along and I will tell you why.

I believe that Harper Lee's intentions for this book was more than just writing another story. I think that she really wanted to go beneath the surface and use these characters to teach life lessons. Many of the life lessons I could compare to in a very similar way.

This novel spoke to me in many way. I think it reminded me of some of the core values of life. How you should treat people how you would want to be treated. Also when people that do nothing and take the blame for the people that actually did something that was wrong is almost like killing a mockingbird. They do nothing but make beautiful music and don't harm anyone. I think after reading this novel it opened my eyes to situation a little bit differently.

My Boo Radley

          In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird one mysterious character was Boo Bradley. By the end of the novel he helps Scout to development from childhood to adolescence. I think everyone was kind of like this situation at one time in there lives.

          When I played club volleyball this past season it really changed my life in many ways! Most of it was all because my coach Lisa. If i would have never done club volleyball i would have never been able to make the school volleyball team. She has taught me so much just over one season.

          Also if it wasn't for club volleyball I would never have some of the friends I have. This experience was a great one. It opened so many doors and I now know just how important it really is to play. I think I am now much closer with the girls that where on my team we spent most our weeks together. Also we where together most of the weekends too.

          If you have never been really into a sport or a hobby it's never to late. When your involved with something like this you will grow a great amount. I believe that all of the reasons above some how relate to Scout.   
 

           

intro

When I was first put into honors English I didn't really know it. The main reason I am doing honors English is because I am in avid. My parents wanted me to take avid so I could get a scholarship. My parents and I want me to get a scholarship because I want to go to college and do something I love with my life. Also honors English will help me get there because it looks good on a college application. I think for the ones who follow my blog, they will see something a little different every time. I am a very spontaneous person so you never know what you will be reading.
